Do You Meet These Education and Technical Requirements

  • You need to have passed 10th or an equivalent exam from a recognized board
  • Your 10th marks, combining all subjects, must be at least 50%
  • You need a National Trade Certificate in the relevant notified trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT

One important detail: there’s no rounding off allowed for that 50% minimum. If you’re at 49.9%, that doesn’t count as 50%.

You need to have your qualifications in hand by the application date, not waiting on a pending result. If your final exam result hasn’t come out yet, don’t apply based on an expected pass.

How Will You Be Selected

Selection happens through a merit list of everyone who applies. The merit percentage is a simple average of your 10th percentage and your ITI percentage.

Merit Percentage = (10th Percentage + ITI Percentage) ÷ 2

Your 10th percentage includes marks from all subjects, not a selected few. For ITI, whatever marks are on your provisional or final certificate will be used.

Here’s how the full process works:

  1. Merit list prepared from 10th and ITI marks
  2. Original document verification at your chosen division/unit
  3. Medical fitness check and certificate submission as per rules

The merit list is prepared separately for each division/unit, trade, and category. There’s no single combined central merit list across all units. If two candidates have the same marks, the older one gets preference. If birth dates match too, whoever passed 10th earlier gets priority.

What Documents Should You Keep Ready

  • 10th marksheet and certificate
  • ITI marksheet and certificate for your relevant trade
  • Aadhaar card
  • Photo and signature in the specified format
  • Category certificate, if you’re claiming reservation
  • Relevant certificate if you’re applying under disabled or ex-servicemen category
  • Printout of the online application and fee payment receipt, wherever applicable

Make sure your name, father’s name, and date of birth in the application exactly match your 10th certificate. Any mismatch found during document verification can get your candidature cancelled.

If you’re claiming OBC reservation, you’ll need a caste and non-creamy layer certificate in the central government’s prescribed format, issued on or after 1 April 2026, along with the required OBC declaration.

Your medical certificate needs to be in the format given in Annexure-IV of the notification, certified by an authorized gazetted doctor at a central or state hospital, someone at least at the rank of Assistant Surgeon.
