The Rajasthan Government has announced a major initiative to strengthen environmental conservation and increase public participation at the village level. Under the Rajasthan Van Mitra Yojana, every Gram Panchayat across the state will have seven Van Mitras (Forest Friends) to support plantation drives, forest protection, and environmental awareness activities.
According to the government’s direction, at least two of the seven Van Mitras must be women, ensuring greater participation of women in environmental conservation programs. The initiative aims to build a community-based network that works closely with the Forest Department and local administration to promote sustainable development and protect natural resources.
