There’s some genuinely good news for students right now. SBI Foundation has just released the notification for the Asha Scholarship 2026, and the applications are live already. So if fees have been a constant worry for you or your family, this is worth reading fully.

Under this scheme, students from Class 9 all the way up to postgraduate and even those planning to study abroad can get financial help – anywhere from ₹15,000 to ₹20 lakh, depending on what you’re studying. It’s not a one-size-fits-all amount; the higher your course level, the higher the support usually goes.

Applications opened back on 20 July 2026, and they’ll close on 4 September 2026. So there’s still time, but not endless time — scholarship deadlines have a way of sneaking up on people.

Documents You’ll Need Before You Start

It’s always better to keep these scanned and ready in advance rather than hunting for them while the form is open in another tab:

  • Mark sheet of your most recent completed year — whether that’s 10th, 12th, graduation or PG
  • Aadhaar card or any valid government ID
  • Current year’s fee receipt
  • Bank account details of your parents
  • Bonafide certificate for the ongoing academic year, issued by your institution head
  • A recent photograph, and caste certificate wherever applicable

Eligibility Criteria — Check This First

  • You must belong to an economically weaker section of society — that’s really the core requirement here
  • You should be a resident of India
  • For school-level applicants, family income should not go beyond ₹3 lakh a year
  • For college and higher education applicants, that ceiling is a bit higher, at ₹6 lakh annually
  • You should have scored at least 75% in your last academic year — this one’s non-negotiable based on the notification

How Much Money Can You Actually Expect?

This varies quite a bit by course, so here’s the full breakdown:

  • Class 9 to 12 students: up to ₹15,000
  • Undergraduate students: up to ₹75,000
  • Postgraduate students: up to ₹2.50 lakh
  • Medical students: up to ₹4.50 lakh
  • IIT students: up to ₹2 lakh
  • IIM students: up to ₹5 lakh
